Summer Camps
For the past ten years Petersburg Outdoor Education Centre has been running both residential and non residential summer camps in Clonbur, Co. Galway. The aim of these camps is to introduce kids from 10 years and over to the various outdoor sports.
For day campers a typical day begins here in the centre at 10am. The kids are divided into groups, head off on activities and are back in time to have lunch at 1 o clock. They then have a supervised break until 2pm and then commence their second activity for the day. The second activity finishes in time for the kids to go home for 5pm.
Alternatively the kids may meet here for ten am and head away from the centre for the full day with a packed lunch. These expedition style days away generally comprise two activities e.g. a Hillwalk-Rockclimb Day or a Cave-Forest trek Day.
The residential summer camps are run exactly the same as the above however the Residential Camp meet here on Monday at 12.30 depart here on Friday at 2pm. All meals are provided for the week. In addition there is an evening activity between 7.30 and 10pm. This evening activity is generally centre based team tasks, e.g. Orienteering, Scavenger Hunt etc. Groups are fully supervised by our qualified staff for the week
Kids who are returning or who have experience in a certain sport have the opportunity to incorporate a course to further their skills in Canoeing, Kayaking or Windsurfing. For further details on the courses we offer see Skills Courses. Generally participants in these courses will also have the opportunity to take part in a range of the other activities on offer.
If your child wishes to be in the same group as some of their friends please indicate so at the time of booking.

Scouts
Petersburg OEC has three campsites for scouts.
The Orchard is an area which can accommodate
80-100 people. It is completely surrounded by a 10 foot wall, providing ideal shelter from the elements. There is a water tap on site as well as toilets and a shower block.
Lakeshore-Sites 1 & 2:
The Lakeshore camp sites can cater for groups of 25-30 people. Both are extremely scenic. A certain amount of shelter is provided by trees for lakeshore campsite 1, lakeshore campsite 2 is enclosed on two sides by walls. Water is available on both sites. Shower blocks and toilets in the centre can be used by arrangement.
